It's Friday and week one is almost complete! Where is the time going? Currently, I am sitting in the Astor cafe, the only place my computer seems to be willing to (sometimes) connect to the internet. It's been a long battle trying to get my internet to work over here. It has been working perfectly for everyone else in our apartment and it seems, on this trip in general, but me and my friend Kelsey seem to be the owners of demon laptops that just refuse to connect to the internet.
Yesterday was such a great day. Most of the day consisted of our Lorenzo d' Medici orientation where we got our finalized course schedules and were introduced to the clubs that are available for us to join. I think I'm going to join the Yoga club! How fun! I can't believe that classes start in just three days! We went to this delicious -- and cheap -- Kabob place where I got a Falafel wrap that was absolutely delicious and extremely filling. I also learned that Italians don't mess around with their coffee.... it is STRONG.  I only had one iced coffee and a small cup in the morning and I couldn't sleep for the life of me last night -- I was so hyped up from the strength of the coffee.
It's so nice to finally feel as though my surrounds are familiar. I can now navigate my way around the streets to get myself to the Duomo, the food store, the market, and to a few of my friends apartments and it feels nice and familiar.
After relaxing in the afternoon with some friends, we walked around a bit before heading over to Kitsch for dinner. The meal style at Kitsch is called "aperitivo" and essentially that is where you order a drink for 8.50 and then get to eat as much as you would like from their buffet of delicious Italian food. It was so nice to just sit and relax with some friends for a few hours. I had some pasta, bruschetta, bread and potatoes, but they also had meats and pasta salads, fruit bowls, vegetables and it was all fresh and delicious! So you can bet we will be going back there again!
Last night was the first time it rained here. We got a huge thunderstorm around 4:30 this morning that, thankfully, cooled everything off a bit. After getting up, probably a bit later than we should have, me and the girls in the apartment headed over to the Centrale Mercato to get some fresh fruit and ingredients for dinner tomorrow night. Tonight the API program is going to take us to dinner, Aperitivo style at 6:00 p.m.! It will be great to hopefully get to meet some new people.

That's all I have for now! Time to go look over my Italian phrase book and get a little practice in!
